Program Description:

Non-Yale Summer Abroad Application

The Non-Yale Summer Abroad application must be completed in order to be approved for study abroad and transfer credit to Yale. Retroactive applications for Yale credit for coursework completed abroad will not be accepted. You must apply by the relevant deadline before going abroad.

Application Process for Non-Yale Summer Abroad Programs

Applying for admission and transfer credit for a Non-Yale Summer Abroad program is a 2-pronged process, which may be completed simultaneously: 

  • Apply for approval to study abroad and transfer credit: To apply for approval of your participation in a Non-Yale Summer Abroad program, click on the "Start Applying" button above and submit this application by the appropriate deadline. This application is not binding, and late applications for study abroad cannot be accepted. You do not need to have already been admitted to your program when you apply.
  • Apply for admission into your intended Non-Yale Summer Abroad program: You must apply directly to the university or program abroad you would like to attend. You can access the program's application directly from their website. It is your responsibility to ensure all application materials are submitted to your desired program by the relevant deadline. Program application deadlines may be earlier or later than Yale’s application deadline.

A Note about the International Study Award (ISA)
 
  • The International Study Award (ISA) provides funding for one approved summer study abroad experience for all eligible undergraduates receiving Yale financial aid.
  • In order to receive ISA funding, you must first receive Yale approval for your summer study abroad program.
  • Once approved to study abroad, you will have access to the (ISA) International Study Award request form as one of your required pre-departure forms in your MyCIPE account.
  • This form is due May 2.

Petition for Programs not on Yale's Designated List

The Non-Yale Summer Abroad application is only for Non-Yale programs that have already been designated by Yale Study Abroad as options for credit. If you would like to participate in a program that is not currently listed in the program database on the Yale Study Abroad website, do not complete this application. Instead, please review the process to submit a Petition for a Program not on Yale's Designated List. You will be able to select a second-choice program from the designated list as part of your petition.
